Sea Sessions announce 2010 dates
Put some Sunshine and Surf in your Sock for Christmas!
Sea Sessions, Ireland's only Surf Music Festival, has just released tickets for 2010. With a recession busting price tag of just 69.95 and FREE camping, for tickets booked on the event website before Christmas, the organisers are once again showing they are as conscious of giving value for money as they are a great show.
Announcing dates of the 25th 26th and 27th of June for the 2010 event the organisers are celebrating the launch by releasing a limited amount of tickets with FREE camping. These limited release tickets are available on this website.
'This is the third year of the event. It sold out to a capacity crowd last year so we wanted to get tickets out early for 2010', said one of the organisers, Declan Madden. Asked about the proposed line up for the 2010 event, Declan was tight lipped. 'Lets just say we hope to continue to build on the success and quality of acts, surfing and skating from last year'.
Hosted right on the beachfront in Bundoran, Co. Donegal, with the high tide literally lapping up to the event site, surfers in and out of the water and the Super Furry Animals headlining, the event was a huge success and has just this week been nominated for the Irish Festival awards in a couple of categories. While only in it's third year Sea Sessions has taken the festival scene by storm and has quickly established itself as one of the 'must attend' boutique festivals in Ireland.
'Because of the location of the site, right on the beach, our capacity is limited - we are catering for a slightly larger crowd than last year but we intend to keep improving the quality of the experience rather than the size of the crowd. 'Each year we have tried to build on what has worked and create an even better experience for people who come to Sea Sessions. A lot of feedback from this year told us to get the tickets on sales earlier - sorry it took so long!!' said Declan.
Once again the cream of Irish surfing talent will be competing for the increasingly prestigious Sea Sessions Expression Session 1,000 euro travel voucher, there will be on site skating, BMX ramps, various stages, arts and holistic healing as well as the best variety of festival food you are likely to come across all summer.
There are a few other changes to the overall experience being planned but nothing we are allowed to tell you about just yet, other than that the camping facilities are being increased and improved.
'We had a huge demand for camping last year and one of the reasons we are releasing these tickets with FREE camping is to let people know we have done a lot of work on increasing capacity there,' he said.

Sea Sessions October Bank Holiday Mini Fest
Sea Sessions Irelands only Surf Music festival is doing it again. This October Bank Holiday weekend 2009 the sea side resort of Bundoran will once again be alive with the sound of great tunes and thumping surf as the cream of Irish Surfing Talent descend on the resort for an eclectic mix of music movies and surfing.
'This is the peak season for surf and a great time to hold the Quiksilver Expression session which was postponed during the Sea Sessions festival in June due to lack of surf' said organiser of the event Pete Craig of the Bundoran Surf Company.
And with Internationally renowned Irish and International surfers competiting for the 1000 euro travel fund which is sponsered by Quiksilver the competition is expected to very inntense.
Already Cain Killcullan, Fergal Smith, Damien Conway, Aaron Reid and Bundorans local groms are signed up for the event.
The event will run on the Bank holiday weekend of 24th/25th of October and is sure to see a lot of interest from the many people who came to the sell out success that was Sea Sessions 2009 back in June.
'The format for the expression session will be the same as proposed in June with. The event will be based on the best move and wont be limited by normally competition boundaries. This means it is a lot more fun to watch than standard format events for non surfers' said Pete.
One person returning is hot musical property RSAG (Rarely Seen Above Ground) one of the stand out acts of Sea Sessions 09.
RSAG will be in Paris night club on the Sunday night with many other acts playing in the town also.
'With Muscians such as RSAG back in town, the surf event and the Movie premier it is going to be a great weekend, and this time people will have the Monday to recover' said Declan Madden of the Bridge Bar, another of the organisers.
The weekend will also see the movie premier of Bustin Down the Door the critically aclaimed story of Rabbit and the bronzed Aussie taking on the Hawaiian locals and waves in the 70's. The film is a documentary/story and has won rave reviews and we are delighted to have the Irish premier. The film will be shown at Bundoran multiplex at 8pm on the saturday night.
'It is amazing but RSAG has achieved a cult status and is fast becoming a 'must see' since the event in June and we are delighted to get him to play again,' said Declan.
The old favourites the Bridge Bar and the Chasing Bull will also have music all weekend.
